Outdoor Additions
We do not just do patios. At CB Chandler Construction, we will create any outdoor structure you would like. We have experience creating outdoor kitchens that are great for parties, family events or barbeques. We can also add pergolas or awnings to provide some shade and cover. If you can think of it, we will do it.

Recent Projects
Stonewall – Jackson Ward
The city offers convenience, lots of restaurants, and wonderful walkability, but it doesn’t offer a ton of square footage or acreage to work with. This Jackson ward home is over 135 years old, and the backyard was simply weeds and dirt. CB Chandler designed and built this backyard way back in 2018. We utilized every square inch to create a welcoming green space. The planting beds on each side of the round patio, are irrigated and incorporated throughout drainage to create the well-draining soil that plants need to thrive. The top cap of the knee wall is made from the same granite that was used for the floor of the VMFA expansion. Stamp concrete using a cobblestone pattern is used for the hardscape. The deck off the mudroom offers a shaded respite in the summer with ceiling fans and a drink rail. The accent lighting creates a comfortable casual hang spot at night with two graveled parking spots off the alley.
Sleepy Hollow
This client’s retirement dream was to have a large backyard patio and fireplace. CB Chandler worked with the client on the design and selections creating what you see below. The design ended up tying in new front walkways, stone of the front façade, stone driveway culvert headwalls, stone on the rear landing, a large patio, sitting walls, and the showcase fireplace. After all of this, we installed new asphalt for the driveway. The clients tell us often how much they love the work we do and how much they use it.
Wickham Glen Pool House
This is one of our favorite projects. This Pool house had exposed cedar ceiling and framing. An interior with a wet bar and bathroom. An outdoor kitchen from a Michelin star chef’s dream, heaters, a huge fireplace, an even bigger TV, and a copper roof. We worked through winter weather delays, Covid, procurement issues, and dominion power delays, It seemed as if everything was working against us to get this completed in time for a late spring pool opening but in the end, we got it done.
Mechanicsville Covered Patio
This client had an existing patio that needed a roof over it. We were able to add a beautiful structure that met up with the existing house while also keeping the space feeling independent. The beautiful tongue and groove ceiling in conjunction with the lights and TV made for an amazing project.
